Welcome to the Caja Del Rio Fundraiser- 50/35 Mile Ride - Saturday, March 17th, 2012
Come spend March 17th with us, riding new trails in the southern portion of the Caja Del Rio, just west of Santa Fe, NM! Haul in on Friday, ride Saturday, and haul home on Sunday! Our base camp this year will be at the lovely Santa Fe Equestrian Center. There's plenty of space in camp for large rigs and covered pipe corrals are available at no charge for your equines. An arena has been set aside for warm up and turnouts! There will be plenty of horse water, with fun, well-marked trails (and good footing) on ride day. Riders will be treated to scenic vistas of the Rio Grande valley and Sangre de Cristo Mountains. We hope to have a good ride for the green horse and for riders new to endurance.
This ride is a fundraiser for the AERC Caja del Rio trails fund. AERC has already supported development of a trailhead at the Caja Headquarters Well, our usual base camp. Profits from this ride will be donated to the Caja trails fund for future Caja projects.
Please do plan ahead! You will need a Coggins and (if out-of-State) health certificate; they will be checked at the ride. The Equestrian center has a liability release form (see the Base Camp tab) for you to sign and we must keep horses off the polo feilds. POLO FIELDS? Yup, this is a top-knotch facility with a polo field! Camping is free for Friday and Saturday, but there will be a nominal $20 fee for extra nights. The ride managers and Equestrian center must know wether you are coming in before Friday or staying after Sunday, so please contact us with your arrival plans. Check this website for updates on logistics and final instructions...
If you are planning on attending this ride, we need a head count, so please use our contact form or email (listed below) to let us know you are coming. Volunteers are ALWAYS welcome and we'll be providing lunch/snack/drinks and dinners for anyone who comes for the day to help. We can always use P/R folks, water tank helpers and folks to assist in camp. If you are interested in learning more about endurance, this is a GREAT way to see how a ride works! Questions? Please contact us and we'll be happy to get you more information. By the way, we are very close to Santa Fe for non-riders and close enough to go into town for gas, groceries, restaurants and the like.
MANY THANKS to our wonderful sponsors. Special thanks to LANB and the Santa Fe Equestrian Center for making a top equestrian facility available for this fundraising event.
